Sunflower Striders Board Meeting Minutes
August 8, 2010 - Meeting Minutes.
Attendees: Jared, Mary Anne, Norma, Hunter, Brad, Marla, Becky, Debbie
Discussion on Labor your legs:
- 4 weeks from tomorrow
- Becky set up RSVP – Have a few responses
- Prep and access
- We can get in early Debbie said we have to call the day before (Friday).
- Debbie she would call.
- Reservation is from 9-4pm
- Marla / Becky Registration table.
- Debbie and MA aid station.
- Becky has waiver form
- Had over 150 last year.
- Becky will make sure we have a contact section plus fill out for a drawing.
- Bring extra news letters and brochures
- Question if BCBS is coming
- Prizes
- Brad will check with Gribbles to see if they will put stuff up for prizes.
- Hunter will contribute Gift Cert or something from the Store
- Everyone should work on Prizes
- Jared will build display boards
- Becky will check on socks
- Norma has a small fuel belt
- Becky will make signs for washrooms
- Pictures - Hunter/ Becky/ or anyone who has a camers
- Run
- Water outside 2 water
- Gator Aid 2
- Announcer for pre-race announcements – bull horn Brad will do. lost kid last year – keep your kids in sight announcement
- Stagger 5k and 10 k start. Start runners then walkers
- Check if we could attract some volunteer youth
- Flyers – Becky will print more
- Breakfast - Food
- Lisa’s dad will do pancakes.
- Norma will organize
Other Events:
- Wellness fair share table with Washburn running club - MA and Paul will be there
- Handed out flyers and news letters for Washburn – can add post
- Norma will get banners – photo boards
- Ask Paul to bring his from Run for Life
- Put awards and meddles for display
- Give a membership away
- Do student memberships – Free for rest of year if they fill out back of news letter
- Print out workout schedule - or do a small poster
Race
- Rossville – Norma

- 21st at Prison – Christmas in July
- Sept 4th – Kaw River Run - trails may not be completed in time –
- Hunter discussed ideas and contacts to see if we can help participation

- Topeka to Auburn – stay on Mara circuit vs state champ
- Investigate using Raceit. Brad will call to work out details.

Club business:
- Stuff – from GPRC – Inventory – MA to start list and send out
- News letter went out with good content and on time – great work! Brad asked if they could do color. Normally it’s 25 cents a page but since we are a steady customer he would do it for 15 cents
- Discussed doing some in color some in black and white
- Brad would like to know what the cost difference is
- MARA rep wants to meet the club. Brad told her about labor your legs /topeka - auburn
- Next Focus on Youth article - Avery (Brad), Topeka High kids (Hunter)

- Discussed Incentive for people who contribute

- Early membership renewal in January and up 5$ post January

- Thought about giving people something - car plates – 12.50 don’t know bulk rate.
- What about a shirt or socks
- Hunter volunteered his store as a place people could pick up membership items
- Forward a copy of list to Gribbles – Hunter will send e-mail.
- Race directors need lists how to contact.
- Do we know anyone who can update the web

- Domain will expire in 2011 – Brad thinks it in the fall
