Sunflower Striders Board Meeting Minutes
June 8, 2008

Present: Brad Rhoden (President), John Patch (V.P.), Kelly Christensen (Treasurer), Debbie Pryor (Secretary), Marla Rhoden (Member at Large), Norma Weiser (Member at Large), Charles Steinkuehler (Member at Large)
Clock and Timer: The board reviewed operating procedures and functions. Norma Weiser will be taking the equipment to Sabetha for the Firecracker Run on 7/5.
The Munn’s Fun Run is coming up on 6/21. It will be potluck and the Striders will provide the meat, buns, and paper/plastic ware this year.
Inviting other area clubs for a fun run and potluck meal was discussed. The place and time are to be determined at a following meeting.
Upcoming races, volunteers, and usage of our timing equipment was discussed for the following events; Sabetha Firecracker 5/k, Fiesta Mexicana 5/k, SSG Governor’s Cup 10k & 5k, SSG Cross Country at Iliff’s, and Big Shunga 8k. The subject of charging a fee to time out of town events was discussed, as well as being recognized as a supporter and requesting discounts for members for local events.
Norma Weiser volunteered to pick up the newsletter this month and distribute it to members.
The website is being brought up to date by Charles Steinkuehler and the board members are reviewing content and giving input regarding accuracy and consistency.
The Striders annual dues will have a new due date of April 1.
The Mettle Award will be replaced with the Strider of the Year Award. A panel comprised of 3 board members will determine what the criteria will be for the new award.
The club will be purchasing new finish line flagging and a banner for Topeka to Auburn.
The Lake Sherwood Clubhouse will be reserved for the annual Thanksgiving Day run.
The location of the annual banquet is in question and to be determined at a later meeting. The Vice President and Secretary will again be in charge of the location, menu, awards, and speakers this year.
The current Strider funds are at $7200.
Next months meeting will be held on 7/13.
