Handy short-cuts:

 

Procedure to add a news item

  1. Add News Item
  2. Fill out fields as appropriate:
  3. Click on "Dates" in the tool bar
  4. Change Publishing date to today's date
  5. Review the event, and if anything needs to change, click 'Edit' (green tab, top-center) and go back to step 2, changing details as required.
  6. Finally, click on 'State:' (upper right corner) and select 'Published' so the event will show up in the calendar.

 

Procedure to add a new race

  1. Click to add a  2014 or 2015 event (will open in a new window)
  2. Fill out event fields as appropriate:
    • Title - typically the race name (ie: Governor's Cup)
    • Description (brief) - typically the distance/events (ie: 5K / 10K)
    • Start/End Date and Time
    • Location
    • Body Text (additional details)
    • Event Type (select 'race')
    • Event URL (if provided) - Include full URL, ie: http://web.site.com/race-page.html
    • Contact Name/e-mail/phone (if provided)
  3. Click 'Save'
  4. Review the event, and if anything needs to change, click 'Edit' (green tab, top-center) and go back to step 2, changing details as required.
  5. Finally, click on 'State:' (upper right corner) and select 'Published' so the event will show up in the calendar.

 

Procedure to add race results

  1. If the results are to be hosted on the striders website:
    • Open the results folder
    • Click 'Add item -> File'
    • Provide title and description, and click 'browse' to locate file to upload on your local computer
    • Click 'save'
    • Click 'Change State -> Published'
  2. Find the event in the list of past events.  If it's not there, see above procedure to add a new race.
  3. Open the event and click the green 'Edit' bar at the top of the page.
  4. Add text for the results link (ie: Overall results, Age-group results, etc)
  5. Select the results text and click the 'Insert link' icon:
    • For results hosted on the striders site, use the 'chain' icon for an internal link
    • For results hosted elsewhere, use the 'world' icon for an external link
  6. Point link to appropriate internal file or external webpage
  7. Click 'save'

 

Procedure to add a week's worth of group runs:

  1. Go to the 2009 group runs folder
  2. Select 1 week's worth of runs (I typically use Sat-Wed, since those are contiguous days) and click 'copy'
  3. Click 'paste' to add another week's worth of events
  4. Select the just-pasted events (should be the ones at the bottom of the list), and click 'rename'
  5. Remove "copy_of_" from the short-name field, and update all dates as appropriate
  6. Open each event in a new window, and click the green 'edit' bar at the top
  7. Update the Start and End date for each event as appropriate.  For Sat. morning run, change the route.  For Wed. night run, change the Restaurant.  NOTE: I find it easier to edit directly in HTML to change the route/date
  8. Click 'save' on each event, then set the State to "Published" (Upper-right corner).
  9. Verify the events look OK (published) in the 2008 group runs folder
  10. Verify the events look OK (correct dates) on the group runs page
  11. Delete group runs older than a month or so to keep from slowing down the website

 

Procedure to add a newsletter:

  1. Open the Newsletter folder
  2. Click "Add item" (upper right, on the green bar)
  3. Click "File" in the drop-down menu
  4. Upload the file.  Please stick to the current conventions:
    NOTE:  File should be renamed locally before uploading!

    Filename: YYYY_MM.pdf (ie: 2008-06.pdf)
    Title: Month, Year (ie: June, 2008)
    Description: <blank>
  5. Click "Save"
  6. Publish the file: State -> Publish (upper right, on the green bar)

 

Procedure to add Meeting Minutes:

  1. Open the Minutes folder and click on the appropriate year
  2. Click "Add item" (upper right, on the green bar)
  3. Click "Page" in the drop-down menu
  4. Using a title & description similar to the existing minutes
  5. Add minutes to page using the visual or html editor
  6. Click "Save"
  7. Publish the file: State -> Publish (upper right, on the green bar)
  8. (optional) Go to the newly updated minutes page, select the properties tab, and change the effective date to the date of the board meeting.  This will insure proper sorting when the overall minutes page is dynamically created.

 

Procedure to add photos:

  1. Open current year's photo directory
  2. Add a folder for the new photos: Add item -> Folder
  3. Name the folder
  4. Click 'Upload Files' tab
  5. Browse & add photos to folder (files should be apx. 800x600 JPEG images)
  6. Publish the folder: State -> Publish
  7. Click 'Contents' tab
  8. Select all files
  9. Click 'Change State'
  10. Click 'Publish' (bottom of the page), and then click 'Save'
  11. You'll get a 'bad gateway' error, go back to the current year's photo directory and select the new folder created above
  12. Actions -> Make Slideshow
  13. Click 'Slideshow Settings' tab
    • Slide Duration: 5 s
    • Transition Time: 2 s
    • Slideshow Width: 800
    • Slideshow Height: 600
    • Thumbnail Navigation: Checked
    • Arrow Navigation: Checked
    • Fast Mode: Checked
  14. Click 'Save' (bottom of screen)
